New PR for the Church

On a recent flight to Orlando I picked up a copy of Rolling Stone and found myself glued to a bitter article about the mix of faith and politics. In the story the journalist wrote a scathing piece that called out Christianity as one of the worst things in American character. As I read the story I found myself checking over my shoulder, wondering if the man beside me thought I was in agreement. Most of my activist leanings were stunted when I was young and heard a few evangelical leaders rave against environmentalism because the earth was going to be destroyed anyway and the ills of the liberal-social-gospel. So why worry about it? That let me off the hook. It was nice being off the hook … for a while.
